i have an m6 '02 z28, i kno i have 3.42's out back, but was that the only gear ration you could get, or was there an option for 3.73's?

The reason i ask is because my rear end is still howling under load on the highway, and im wondering if the gears are the problem. If so, id rather them replace the gears with a higher OEM raito if that was an option... thanks guys =)

 

All M6s had 3.42s (RPO code GU7), there was no 3.73 option.

A4s either had 2.73s (RPO code GU2) w/a steel driveshaft or 3.23s (RPO code GU5) w/an aluminum (silver) driveshaft.

 

I'd rather not ration my gears.

If you're asking if you can put in a higher ratio, then the answer is yes. 3.73:1, 4.11:1, etc.

If your rear is howling then you have problems.

 

Howling rear= cracked differential pinion seal (DPS). Cheap fix, I'd look at that first. Rear ends in general are not expensive to repair.

 

it's GU6 for 3.42 GU7 is 2.77
