Stock Flexplate
Stock Flexplate
I have a small crack in my flexplate and I think it is the cause of my starting problems. So my question is do I just put in another stock flexplate or do I upgrade to another. And is upgrading even possable, Without being neutral balanced. If so witch one do you guys recommend
Re: Stock Flexplate
why not upgrade while you have the tranny out. i just blew up my stock one and it ended up slicing a cut into the oil pan before lodging itsself in my starter. Jegs.com has several externally balanced HD 6000+rpm ones for $56-$105.
Re: Stock Flexplate
Just buy an SFI approved flexplate you can get one shipped to your door for under 100 bucks.
I just purchased a B&M SFI flexplate for my TH400 install, since my tranny came with an ultrabell I figured I might as well step up to a good SFI flexplate as well. 79.99 I think it was at Jegs.
B&M part number 20238.

Re: Stock Flexplate
Thanks for the replys guys. I think you are right I need to upgrade, I want to make sure I order the right one. I was looking at the jeg's brand Pt#555-60153 SB 86-97, 153-tooth Externally balanced
Is this the correct one?
And next year when I get a new motor that is neutral balanced could I just remove the weight on the flexplate to get neutral balanced? Or will I have to buy another one?
