Stock 10 bolt strength
If i were to upgrade my 10bolt housing with new rods, and new diff and new gears and such...would it hold up as well as a new 12bolt? i'm trying to save money, but i want the performance....

Or spend the 1k for all that stuff plus the install and listen to all your gear teeth get shredded.
Maybe if more people bought 12 bolts the price would come down a bit. I took the 10 bolt way to save some money, but I have a feeling that if I keep this car permanently I'll be putting in a 12 bolt or a 9 inch anyway. There's a few people that have adapted 8.8s and 9 inches from junkyards to fit f-bodies for about a grand, but they sounded like they had some good mechanical abilities. If you get under there and look there's not a lot that actually bolts up to the rear axle- the main thing involved would be cutting and welding, I suspect. If you do a search there's probably some good info on it.

There are lots of guys running quick with the 10 bolt on autos.Autos cushion some of the shock. The m6 guys well adds some real sticky rubber like et street radials and see how fast you can say Kaboom.Wheel spin on street tires saves rear ends also but wheel hop is not a good thing. Some lower control arms should help out there.
