Stall on Old 4L60E
What's up guys?
My car has 158,000 well-maintained miles, my trans. has never given me any trouble, shifts perfectly at WOT and normal driving and is always serviced on time.
How much strain and wear would a stall be on my car at this point in its life? Especially the transmission? I think this is the one thing that's missing that holds my car back at the track.
Thanks.

That all depends on how high of a stall you get. One major factor to the death of a trans is heat. The higher the stall the more heat that is produced. You already have a tranny cooler and that probobly explains how you have 150K+ miles on your trans and you say it works fine.
You have an LS1 car so I wouldn't go any lower than a 3200 stall, I would go with a 3400 since your car is basically stock but no lower than 3200, and to keep the temps in the same area they are now I would add another trans cooler. My car has the stock cooler and 2 big aftermarket coolers. It seems to work very well like that.
