Which Stall to get?

I need some help here. I did a recent upgrade in the car including: 97 LT1 engine(still obdI) with a 218/228 cam, ported and polished heads by Lloyd(279/192), 52mm tb, felpro gaskets, hooker LT's, off road 3" y-pipe with magnaflow, tr-55's with msd superconducters with a msd 6-al, moroso cai, tb bypass, "madwolf" tune, 1.6 crane gold rr's, combination motorsports springs, 160* thermo, mobil 1, tranny cooler and shift kit. I am probably forgetting some things, but those are the bigger upgrades.

I bought a rebuilt 4L60E capable of handling 500rwtq and now I want to do the stall before I put her in. I found a place that will re-work the stock torque converter and make it any stall you want(except they can't make it a vig or yank...j/k). Plus, there is a lifetime warranty. I need some help here. This is an every day driver and it needs to be streetable. I would also like the anoying lag of 1st to 2nd gear to be treated...i.e. when it shifts into 2nd the wheels chirp and then it takes a moment for the car to almost "catch-up" with itself...and I heard a stall will help. Remember, I drive in Houston stop and go traffic everyday...HELP ME OUT!!! Thanks a ton

stop and go traffic means crappy gas milage on a high stall converter, I PERSONALLY wouldnt go above 3200... I think a 3000-3200 would be good for you... Though may some recommend on a 3400, but gas milage wouldnt be too great

If you had a dyno sheet on this engine and you wanted peak performance you would get a stall just below your torque peak. If you are looking to sensibly maximize your car for the street you should be looking at 2600-3000. If you are drag racing the higher stall can be a problem with the older PCM.

Customizing to my torque curve, I think, would be the best way to go. I need to go get her dynoed...but I am going to have to wait till I get the program done right...plus I think I'm buring oil somewhere and need to pin it down. I'd love to go with a 3200, but I just don't think it would be my best bet daily driving her. What is the typical loss of mpg on the 2800-3000 stall? I just don't want it real jerky. Hopefully I can get her running correctly so I can get the new tranny and get my tc redone. Thanks for all the replies.

2800 Vig in my opinion....stalls a little higher than rating....wont be jerky at all until you hammer it on sticky tires!

I never checked stock mileage but I was getting 16 mpg on a 2600 stall mixed city/highway. It went up to 17 the one time I drove highway only. I only had changed my bottom end and was est. 310 rwhp.
