stall
I was going to ask the say question that was on the other post I did't want to steal his post. 97 ss ragtop lt4 hot cam, 1.6 rockers, jet hot long tube headers, stock heads, stock intake, the car is taken to mostly cruises, to the track 1-2 times a year please need imput thanks what kind of stall and how much.
What rear gear do you have? It makes a difference on how the stall feels. I would say anywhere from a 2800 to a 3600 stall would suit you well. I have a Vig. (not cheap) and am very happy with it. But I would like to bump mine up from 2800 to a 3600 for better track times. For some this might be a bit much for street driving.
id say go with a 3000,3200,or maybe a 3400
my old l98 3rd gen had a 3000 in it, and it was fine for DD, but for the track a 3400 or so would have been nicer.
On my setup, im going to run a 3400 for a mix of track and street driving, and if it feels too big, i can put it for trade on here and get a 3200 more than likely.

Depending on what brand you go with, you could spend anywhere from 400-800 bucks. As for the stall size, you could go anywhere from 2800-3600 as mentioned. Whoever you do buy your converter from can also give you some good recommendations as well. Whatever size you do go with, I would also plan on adding an auxillary tranny cooler as well.
