95 Formula LT1 A4, Stage 2 A4 Trans & 9.5" 3K RPM Converter purchased Spring of 2009. I installed trans, put <1000 miles and car was involved in a wreck. I put the car down for 2 years as I was just finishing school and strapped for cash. Recently I had body work done as well as freshen up all fluids, from car sitting. I've been driving the car daily for the last several months and have put about 3K miles on the new trans. The trans had been absolutely awesome. Shifted amazingly, pulled strong in all gears and never missed a beat. I flushed fluid after putting another 1000 miles on it and all seemed to be well.

This morning I was on my way to work on the highway riding about 65MPH. As I was accelerating to pass a car I noticed my RPM's increase but the typical surge of power wasn't there. The car fell on its face and just would not pull. Felt like it was choking. As I came into some stop and go traffic all of the sudden I noticed that my typically crisp 1-2 shift was really soft and my 2-3 was more jerky than usual. The trans just felt odd. No actual slipping, doesn't feel like any other transmission i've driven with issues and I've driven quite a few in a poor state. I called the company that I bought the trans from several years ago which of course is out of warranty now and was told to replace fluid, filter, and pressure control solenoid. When I got home from work this evening I decided to pull the dip stick and look at the fluid. To my surprise it was BLACK and burned. I'm starting to think that the damage may be deeper than a fluid and solenoid exchange. What are your thoughts gentleman? Thanks in advance for any feedback!
