SS wheels not going on correctly

I have a 95 camaro and I am trying to put on the 10 spoke SS wheels. I don't know what the deal is. The front 2 went on just fine. The rear 2 aren't lineing up properly. 4 of the lug nuts will, but the last one will not. I don't think it is actually going on straight. What is the trick to get it on there properly. It is driving me nuts.

inside the hub on the 2 rear rim's there is a slight lip.. if you stick your finger in the big hole.. you'll feel it just at the edge. .like a lip that run's around it.. grind that down to make them fit.. 96+ car's i believe had a smaller diameter hubcentric on the axle.. and the 95 and under had the larger one.. make it smooth.. this way you have no other fitment issues...

Re: SS wheels not going on correctly

I know this is an old post, but I'm currently having the same problem. I went to buy some 10 spokes but tried them on first and it wouldnt fit on the rear. If I were to grind down the lip would that take away any of the wheels strength. I know its not much that needs to come off but I dont want to take any chances weakening the wheel. Please let me know what my options are. Thanks for any help.

Re: SS wheels not going on correctly

I did it on my ZR1's, and I've read about 50 posts talking about other people doing the same thing with no ill effects. You probably only take off 1mm of material at the very most. I did mine by hand with a half round file. Just take your time and keep test fitting the wheel until it fits flush, and you won't remove any more than is absolutely necessary.

The part that you are filing down only centers the wheel on the hub, since it is inside the lug nuts, I don't think that much stress is going through that part of the wheel anyway (I'm not an engineer or anything, so don't quote me on that).

Here's a previous thread that on the subject:

Weird, the stock wheels off of my 2000 Z28 fit my bro's 94 Z just fine.

Re: SS wheels not going on correctly

96&Up axle's won't have this problem.. Pre 96 car's will.. If you have a aftermarket rear you won't have this issue either..
