Spec Stage 2 or 3

I am having trouble deciding which clutch to get. I am probably gonig to order it tomorrow so I need to know soon. I have had people tell me both stage 2 and stage 3. I will have the mods in my sig and be spraying a 150 shot. Which clutch would be better?

BTW, I drive the car on the street alot and take it on trips sometimes. I only take it to the track maybe 3-4 times a year.

Re: Spec Stage 2 or 3

I've heard a lot of people going with the stage 4 but I don't think there's much difference between 4 and 3. I dd with the stage 3 and have no problems. It's definetly an aggressive disk compared with the stock unit but once it broke in (took me more than 500mi) it drives like the stock unit with a quicker engagment. Just from my experience, I'd say stage 3 will suit you fine. Hopefully you'll get some more opinions by tomorrow.

Re: Spec Stage 2 or 3

I have been a little hesitant from getting the Stage 3 because I have been told it would not be a good street clutch and would wear out very fast. I have had my car for not quite 2 years and have maybe put 8,000 miles on it. If the clutch does last me 30,000 miles like some have said then that would still be 8 years or so and that would be fine for me. But now everyone is saying Stage 4, I don't want something that will be unstreetable and still don't know what to get.

Is the stage 4 that bad on the street?? How much better is it than the stage 3?? How many miles are you all seeing out of both???

Also, I have been hearing lots of people talking about replacing the slave cylinder. What is this and how do I replace it?? Sorry for the dumb question but I have never replaced a clutch on a f body before.

Re: Spec Stage 2 or 3

My friend's spec 4 was surprisingly easy to drive in normal stop and go traffic. Don't get me wrong, it's far from a stock clutch, but it's not as terrible as many think. In fact I got one of the bad spec clutches that many talk about (spec 2 in my car) and it's more of an on/off clutch than my buddies spec 4. IMO, I'd stay away from the spec clutches with the springs (1-3) as many of these clutches have fallen apart or had bad engagement/chatter issues like I've experienced with mine.

I'd either go with a spec 4 or a centerforce.

Spec 3+ supposedly has the holding power of a 5, but better pedal feel than a 3. No sprung hub either. You don't have to replace the slave or anything on an LT1 car, that's mostly dealing with LS1s.
