Spec IV extreme outter disk ware and funky flywheel "burn"

Greetings,

Against my advice my friend put a Spec IV in his Camaro I drove it once, and it never really felt right...well it never really felt right compared to what it felt like in my wagon, enguagement was a bit wierd and driving felt more jitery then I remember... but i figured the different weight/gearing might have something to do with that.

Well apparently it got much worse and we took it out last night. The disks edge (the outmost 0.25") is completely worn down on the flywheel side, no friction material left at all. and the flywheel has a multi-colored *burn* (not really sure what it is) ring all the way around it as if just the edge of the disk was making more contact.

He just wanted to go with a stock clutch and possibly a different flywheel but id like to know why this was happening before we put everything back together. Could it be a problem with the flywheel balance (its a new spec flywheel), engine balance, or improper clutch installation? (seemed like it was installed ok)

any ideas?

Well, he took it to an engine shop and they said the flywheel wasn't perfectly flat so they are going to machine it down a bit.

Kind of supprising...anyone else have problems with their spec flywheel?
