Spec 4 cluch disk?

I was wondering, since the pressure plate from an LT1 clutch is the basically the same thing from almost any company, can I just buy a spec 4 clutch and put it in my car without any probs? That's after getting the pp and flywheel resurfaced of course. Should I buy an aftermarket flywheel? Any help is welcomed

I was going to have the pressure plate resurfaced for mine, but after searching around I couldnt find a machine shop here that wanted to do it so I ended up just getting the clutch kit all together. As far as the flywheel goes, plenty of places will re-surface them, but I would only have it resurfaced a very small amount. Removing material from the flywheel increases the clearance between the clutch and flywheel which lowers the clamping force.

So would the spec 4 bolt right up though?

Yes, the spec 4 clutch disk will work fine with a stock pressure plate and flywheel.

Thanks that's what I wanted to hear, cause I ordered it the other day. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Came out to 199 plus shipping.

If you do find a place to resurface your pp would you mind posting how much it costs and how they do it? Like do they remove the metal ring and use spacers behind it to add the correct thickness back to it, or do they just hone the surface as long as it's still within spec?

I'll let u know tomorrow, I'll ask them what is exactly they do. I think my friend told me it was around 40$ or so but that was the flywheel, but I'll know by tomorrow.

That would be great thanks. If you can get your pp and flywheel surfaced for around 100 bucks and then spend 200.00 on a clutch disc that would make the price of replacing clutches a little less painful lol. This being my first time to set up a 6 speed I ended up spending about 900 for clutch pp and flywheel but that did at least include a Spec flywheel. Next time I wont have to spend as much
