Spec 2 hold 425Rwhp?
researching clutches...
should be making 425hp at the wheels if i ever get around to buying cylinder heads. my clutch is slipping with my current setup.
i'm leary of the Spec 3 due to the problems with the sprung center section. and i think the 4 may be too much clutch for my daily driver.
is the Spec 2 built with that same spring setup? will it hold my future HP goal?
i plan to put a lightweight billet steel or alum flywheel on at the same time.
thanks

Re: Spec 2 hold 425Rwhp?
Spec 4 drives the same as the 3, i wouldnt go with the 2 at that kinda HP levels.
Mcleod single disk might be an option if you dont want a spec, or street twin if you have the cash.
I daily drive my spec 4 with no problem. Only once after 30mins in stop and go traffic on the interstate in Kansas city did it heat up and get grabby, but it was fine after it cooled down. So unless your in an area with tons of stop and go driving for extended periods, i would go with the spec 4.
And by stop and go driving, i mean the BS where you pull forward 20 feet, wait 20 secs and do it again...

Re: Spec 2 hold 425Rwhp?
here is what i'm looking at...
Spec 4 - $450
Fidanza alum flywheel - $320 (currently on sale)
upgraded slave - $125
should hold all the power i plan to make, rev faster due to less mass, and free up a little rear wheel hp.
all for the bargain price of about $900....
now accepting donations

Re: Spec 2 hold 425Rwhp?
where the heck are you getting a street twin for $900?????
37-63050B-00-07 McLeod Street Twin Dual-Disk Clutch, Aluminum Flywheel & new master cylinder, 1998-2002 LS1 F-body $1533.99
37-64050B-00-07 McLeod Street Twin Dual-Disk Clutch, Steel Flywheel & new master cylinder, 1998-2002 LS1 F-body $1166.99
remember i want the alum fly wheel for less rotating mass....
and it says upgraded mastercylinder....not sure if that includes the slave...which is what i need to upgrade.

McLeod 1998-2002 LS1 Street Twin Clutch $1,050.00
The king of all clutches, the street twin boasts 2 clutch discs. pressure plate, throwout bearing, master cylinder, and your choice of steel or aluminum flywheel.
Sorry didnt realize you were running an LS1.
I just wouldnt spend $900 for a spec setup when you could have the ST for $150 more.

Re: Spec 2 hold 425Rwhp?
but that still doesn't give me the upgraded slave cylinder....which is a major weak point in the 99 clutches!! so tack another $130 onto that.
and i think i can get the fidanza FW on ebay new for $300
we'll see, thanks for the info though
EDIT:
if you look, the alum flywheel is +$200 option.
for the $900 i mentioned that INCLUDES the alum FW...see what i mean?

Yeah i can see what you mean. I was thinking LT1, dont know much about LS1 clutch setups.
Spec stage 4 and alum flywheel would definetly be a nice setup.
So its your call, just dropping you some options.
