should c-clips be loose

hey people,

I put in my new moser axles last night into the 10-bolt and when I went to put the c-clips on they slid in without any affort. They are just sitting on the axle without any friction holding them in. Is that normal?

I know once the pin is in place, c-clips will be held in place, but I am still not sure if they are supposed to be so loose. When I took the clips off the old axles I had to use angled niddle poking device and a pair of pliers.

Re: should c-clips be loose

They're fine. Every time I've ever taken a rear end apart all I need is a small magnet to take the c-clips on and off. As you said, the pin hold the axles in place, and the cutout in the side gears holds the c-clips onto the axle.
