Shimming the flywheel.

I recently did a clutch install and my clutch is not fully disengaging. I have already tried bleeding the hydrolics and even replaced them with the new GM kit. I had the flywheel resurface and im thinking this might be why its not disengaging.

Can i buy shims to shim it? What is the thickness of a new GM FLywheel, i dont know how much was machined off so i will need to mic it.

I would think that if the flywheel was cut too thin you'd have a problem with the clutch slipping, not a disengagment issue. It sounds more like you're not getting enough travel out of your hydraulics. Is the plastic "cap" still on the end of your slave cylinder rod (where it mates to the fork)?

heatmaker,

With your car does it sometimes go into gear easier than others. Mine is kind of an intermintent problem, sometimes it will slide into gear with only a small effort and most of the time its a real pain. Its only when im at a complete stop. Other wise it shifts ok.

Yes, mine does the same thing. The gears are easy to get into and then sometimes they might need a little "umph" to get into. My clutch holds fine though but my pedal has no spring in it. Plus my reverse isn't happening at all. I did the exact same things you did. Got a new GM Hydrualic kit too. I can kind of guarantee that it's the flywheel on my car. WHen I took it off it had heat marks and all on it. My rear main seal was leaking. So I think they had to take allot off to get it clean again. But it was too much...and now I'm f3ked.
