Shifts feeling a little harder

Especially from 1-2 and 2-3, the shifter feels like it hits a bump then gets into gear. ... Just today while I had the clutch disengaged, I yanked from 1st to 2nd and got that god awful grinding noise. Shouldn't I be able to go as fast as I can if the clutch is disengaged? Is it worth getting checked out? As in the sig, i have a pro 5.0. Thanks guys.

EDIT: One more thing worth mentioning ... It seems to loosen up when i go back and forth between gears but stiffens up again and gives me spots of resistance once I get going and need to shift again.

Your clutch could be sticking a little (not disengaging fully). Jack up the rear of your car (just put a floor jack under the diff) and get the rear tires in the air. Start the car, put it in first, but keep the clutch disengaged. Have someone watch the rear tires for you and see if they spin. While the clutch is disengaged, run the car quickly up to 4000 RPM or so, or give it a few good blips of the throttle. If the tires spin, it means your clutch is not disengaging fully. That can cause what you are describing.
