How hard are you shifting at WOT? The fork could be bent to where if you shift it nice it will still work but harder and it won't.

And I don't think you're missing fourth, it's straight down. I think I've only misshifted into 6th once.

i have a b&m ripper shifter and im slamming it pretty hard i can get the rear to break loose in 3rd but when slamming it down in 4th theres nothing.. also i slamed the shifter down from 3rd to 4th a couple of times not at wot though to see if it was the fork and it worked fine.. so im thinking maybe it's me since i only notice this problem with others in the car..

I had this exact same problem today at the track, I just recently insatlled a spec stage 3. I never usually miss the 3-4 shift but today it hapenned exactly as you described on back to back runs I shifted hard from 3rd to 4th and the shifter seemed to go into gear but when I got back on it the engine would just rev without me going anywhere. Then I parked the car for a bit and it seemed to shift fine. I ran again though and the same exact thing hapenned (the car only partly goes into gear then I have to press in the clutch and force it to go in all the way) It seems like it could be a bent shift fork but I'm curious to know what your problem ended up being?

Re: Shifting problems!!!

i adjusted my shifter futher back and that may of helped but my problem was that when i powershifted into 4th i would pull my arm towards me and back and that would cause me to either miss 4th or go into 2nd. and now after alot of practice i don't have that problem anymore. hope that helps and good luck with finding your problem.

Re: Shifting problems!!!

What type of shifter do you have? Do you mean that you adjusted the stops further back? I think I have the same problem as you but the opposite side. I upside down palm the shiftknob and pull it away from me to avoid hiting 2nd in case of a missed shift. It's probably just user error in my case Although I could have sworn I felt the shifter go into gear (partly) both times. Guess I just need to practice more.

i have the B&M ripper shifter with the longer stick and not the shorter one. the washers in the kit have the holes in one location and i put the holes towards the top and bolted it down. well when i was having that problem i took them out and put the holes towards the bottom which allowed me to slide the shifter back some.

Re: Shifting problems!!!

Just thought I would update this. My problem ended up being the Trans mount. I took a look at it underneath the car and it seemed fine, but then I took it to my mechanic and he removed it to inspect it and we saw it was torn almost all the way across Now I know why I could feel the whole tranny moving up whenever I would press the gas hard, and why I I was having so much trouble shifting at WOT. Replaced the trans mount and I haven't missed a WOT shift since.
