Shifter stand up when accelerating

Shifter stand up when accelerating

I have a 96 6 speed.. when i accelerate.. the shifter stands up.. any idea why? normal or no? thanks

If you're talking that it raises up towards the roof then your transmission mount is broken

I agree. Replace it with a 1LE mount or an Energy Suspension mount. I have had the ES mount for 6 years with no problems at all.

How do i replace the transmission mount? do i have to remove the tranny? instructions please

REAL simple!

Get the car up on stands or ramps, get a jack under the tranny to support it, unbolt the nut from the tranny mount (in the center of the cross member) then unbolt the cross member. Then remove the 2 bolts holding the mount to the tranny (or whatever is left of the mount ). Then bolt the NEW mount to the tranny, put the cross member back in place, and tighten everything up .

Should take ~20 minutes or less, start to finish .
