shifter console mod, a4 to m6???

i converted from an auto to a m6 while i was swapping motors and i finally got to putting the interior in today. well i bought a new m6 center console weeks ago because i knew i would need it. far i i could tell i just had to swap the shifter covers and that was all i needed to do in the interior. when i got the console base in i noticed that the right side front mount it too close to the shifer and i can't shift into reverse with out breaking that mount. the shifet plate has a clip for it but i don't see how it can even be there. the rubber insolator boot that goes on the floor is way too snug in there too. can anyone tell me how this works or click me a pic of the console with the shifet plate off. thanks

Don't know about the 97, but I used my A4 console, and put in the M6 shfiter insert without any problems. I did not switch the entire console.
