Shifter for 01 SS

I'm looking to buy a new shifter, this stock one just isn't cutting it..

I'm debating between Hurst, B&M, and Pro 5.0

I drove my friends T/A with a pro 5.0, and i must say.. I really enjoyed that 2nd to 3rd shift..

What do you guys think.. I'm leaning toward the pro 5.0

Re: Shifter for 01 SS

it's the most popular and reccomended shifter for a reason.

but for me..

i drove a car with a pro5.0 once...hated it. was WAY too stiff and hard to find the gears. and i was coming from driving a 6spd car with a factory hurst and short stick...so i know how the t-56 felt.

could have been the way the guy had it set up.

but i got my factory hurst for $50 shipped, and the brand new Lou's short stick for $55 shipped. much cheaper than the big names...and pretty damn nice

Re: Shifter for 01 SS

I'm using the B&M Ripper shifter, and it seems to work pretty well for me? I'm never driven a car with anything other than the B&M though, so I can't say how it compares to anything else . But I do know that the 2-3 shift is (almost) impossible to screw up . I was actually shocked at first, just how "3rd gear happy" the shifter is when you're going for 3rd! (unless your hand slips or you just hit it the wrong way, it goes in first shot, with ease, no question ).

My buddy also has the B&M in his '97 Z28 and loves it. He's managed to pull off ~13.7's in the 1/4 mile with that car, and it is 100% bone stock, other than the shifter! He can shift lightning fast with that thing.

BUT, I've heard LOTS of good review on the Pro-5.0, so I don't think you can go wrong either way .
