Shift point issues

I beileve after some research my shift points were set at 6800rpm;s. The problem is according to the stock tack it's not shifting till a lil over 7000rpm's. Using my scanmaster I beileve my gauge is 200rpm's of but I'm still unsure. My question is are most off and can a OBD1 be spun past 7000rpm's?

Re: Shift point issues

According to Ed Wright (I think)(fastchip.com) 7,140 is max rpm, for the OBD1.

Re: Shift point issues

Today I did another run and I'm almost posotive my stock tach is off because the tranny is new and it is shifting. Now I just to get my car on the dyno and see if I'm making power that high with my setup and decide from there if I should lower it. Oddly enough the car drives different with the rebuilt tranny. It doesnt have the neck snapping shifts at part throttle or even wot but it just feels more confident. The only time the tranny worries me is when I go from nuetral to drive. Kinda snaps you back a little. Overall I'm happy with it and cant wait to see how well it holds.
