which shift kit/what are my options?

i dont really like the way my car shifts so im getting a shift kit put on in about a month. my question is which one should i get? the guy at the speed shop told me to get the B&M transpak and to stay away from the transgo, so i am confused because everyone likes the transgo better. he also told me the B&M hits harder, and i really dont need a trans-cooler. any ideas about this??

I was told the same thing as you.....go with a B&M since they've been around forever and are "tried-and-true" if you will. I don't have it installed yet though, so I can't say how it works yet, but I hope to get it put in soon. If I've got mine in before you do, I'll let ya know how it works! If you get your B&M in before me though, please let ME know how yours works!

The Trans-Go can be modified to do more than the B&M. It will allow you to make the 1-2 part throttle shifts amooth, while having firm WOT shifts. It addresses some of the problems that are inherent in the 4L60E. If you have any questions about this, let me know?

i have talked to a few guys on here about the B&M but most say its trash, everyone seems to lean towards the transgo. ProBA, i talked to this guy and he said if i wanted to adjust shifts and if i wanted higher line pressure that he could install a bigger cylinder to raise line pressure and this hook that goes to the TV cable for adjustments. is this guy BS'ing me, dont really think he knows too much cuz i told him my car had the 700r4 and he told me it was the 4L60e.so i got into an argument w/ him about it, and i finally just popped the hood to show him the TV cable and he said that its the first 4th gen he had seen w/ the 700r4. what about this other cylinder that makes the conv. stay locked up in 4th gear? sorry about so many questions but he really had me confused

i have a blazer with the 700r4, and i had the stage 2 b&m shift kit put in it. the guy who put it in for me tried talking me out of getting it , cuz he said there trash(pretty much just buying hte name) well anyway he said to take it back and he would do the same thing the b&M would do but under normal acceleration it wouldnt have the jerk to it. so i put the b&M in it and it makes a hell of a difference on the shift , but sometimes it doesnt work, well kinda, sometimes my tires dont spin(lol) maybe it is the shift klit but possibly somtimes the cable is tightened too much that it dont have the jerk to it. but oh well i am please with it
maybe u should shop around and find someone that specializes in trannies that can do the work themselves without have to buy the shift kit. it should save you a few dollars ...........later

first, imho, i think the transgo is the better of the two
it does address problems inherant in the 4l60e, the 4l60, the 700r4 and a bunch of other trannies
b&m tend to just raise line pressure which is not healthy for the transmission
also, imo again, you do need a tranny cooler with a shift kit, especially with a t/c

now, as a said, b&m like to just raise line pressure, which they do with their cheap shift enhancers (20$ usually)
they also do much the same with the shift kits i think

so transgo is definately been run in a lot of cars and i've only ever heard issues about installing it (some don't come with an instruction manual) and a very select few for some odd reason, just didn't work

o yea, one more thing, your tranny is techically a 4l60
it is the same thing as a 700r4 basically iirc
the 4l60e started in 94 and the only difference is that it is electronically controlled (which is why the "e" is there)
sorry for the length, hope that helps

street demon2k3, if he is referring to the larger boost valve, it is in the front pump and it can be installed by dropping the pan. I would not deal with this character. If you have any questions, call me at 800 7763288, anytime in the afternoon.
