Shift Kit

Is a shift kit necisarry if your going to run a 2800-3000 converter? If so, why?

Just wondering. I always thought it didnt change how fast the car shifted, just how firm the shifts would feel.

not necessary but recommended. it makes the shifts feel sluggish.
i had one installed with my 2800 PI TC, i used the transgo level 3. it shifts like it did stock (maybe just a little firmer)

They just complement each other. If you want the full benefit of a good stall converter, you need to install a good shift kit. Kinda like to get the most out of a set of heads, you need to have the cam matched to them. Get it?

yea after a stall converter it makes your shifts a little sluggish, and you need a shiftkit to tighten up your shifts

Don't get a shift kit if you feel that your trans is starting to slip...plus unless you're a pro with the 4L60E, install of a shift kit is unbelievably expensive...
