having problem adjusting the shift cable on an 84 Z, 700R4 transmission with a B&M mega console shifter. no matter what I do I can either only get park and drive and not be able to shift it manually down into 1 and 2 or I can get it into 1 & 2 and not be able to put it into park, is there some specific procedure for installing and adjusting the shift cable after you replace it (other than just tossing it in and trial and error)? if anyone could clue me in to the proper way I'd appreciate it before I lose what's left of my hair.

should be fairly srtaight forward.

make sure the tab bolted to the trans is not bent or it will give you fitts by messing up the geometry
