searched, but still need some help

I've got a 94 t/a with a 383 and ati p600B, its not the most powerful car but its still a beast, I've been through 3 trannys now, all professionally built all with warranties etc..but for god sakes I'm tired of going through the damn things lol.
Its a 700r4 from my understanding (still got the TV cable).

my question is this, would it be more feasable to swap in a t-56 (i'd like a stick, like no hassle with trannys more) or a 4l80E. How much do controllers run? I've got a friend who can do the fabrication, he runs a full fab shop. Just what all is necessary to run it? No 3peeds are options, I drive this car frequently and don't care for turnin rpm's on the highway.

TIA

is that a T/V cable or a cruise control cable? it shouldn't be a throttle valve cable. as far as the 3 trannies you've broke, what are you breaking on them?

Re: searched, but still need some help

are they just rebuilds or are you actually upgrading the internals,

here are some of the parts i put in my tranny and it runs in the 10's, and is street driven daily and no problems:

-upgrade pump 13 vane
-larger boost valve
-tansgo shift kit
-larger servo for 2nd gear
-hardend input shaft and drum, and sunshell(torque drive kit)
-new reverse drum(gm)
-29 element double cage sprag
-raybestos blue cluthes and pro series band
-gm front 5 pinion planetary(original is 4 pinion)
-gm rear 5 pinion planetary(original is 4 pinion)
-converted all the thrust washes to bearings(need several parts from 98 and newer 4l60e's)-reaction carrier shaft and bearings
-large b&m cooler with built in fan
-larger trans line cooler fittings to use 3/8 lines to the cooler

The 4 pinion is running in the 8's and have been told that they are stronger than the 5 pinion. Fixing to find out on a 3700lb car with over 500RWHP.

the 4 pinion are stronger than the 5 pinion aftermarket sets, but the gm 5 pinions are by far stronger than the 4 pinions

Wasn't aware that GM made a 5 pinion set for the 4L60E....

yes they came in the newer 6.0L truck tranny's with RPO code M32

a standard 4L60E trans is RPO code M30

truck trans 4L65E has 5 pinion front and rear planetary's RPO code M32

they are a direct swap, i have both the front and rear 5 pinion in my 4L60E

another nice part swap is the carrier support from 98 and newer 4L60E's, this gets rid of 2 of the thrust washers and replaces them with roller bearings,

my trans has no thrust washers at all in it, all are flat roller bearings

the torque drive kit that is being sold for the 4L60e is also a very nice part

I have a full roller tranney with 4 in front & 5 in the rear with suposedly all the mods-- it cost enough to be gold plated. It has been changed to vacuum shift and all the HD hard parts and pump mod's,with deep pan.We gonna see if it's right here in a few weeks.

Its a T/V cable for sure, the tranny is definintly a 700 which is wierd but I guess they didn't start the fully electronic 4l60 til 95 right?

In the past rebuilds this is what they say they've done, hardened sprags, upgraded clutches (don't know which though), upgraded servos(again don't know which)..typical rebuild with "high performance" parts. I really think the death of the tranny's is the lack of good parts. There's a guy who builts race transmissions locally that swears he can build one to take the power, but I'm sort of tired of having to deal with it, the last trans lasted 4k miles, I'm not particularly hard on them either, only 5 1/4 passes and alot of mild street use.

This time around, and the past I guess too, they slip, I lost 2nd gear now, nothing but slip. Like the 2nd gear clutches gave out...

EDIT: obviously there isn't any cheap fix to my issue, but a friend has all the necessary parts to a 6 speed swap that I can get pretty affordably ~1250-1500, and it comes with a street twin clutch. I don't really want to have a ton of money tied up in a trans.

Nope they started in 94, you got a tranny that originally didn't come in the car...

I know a builder that can build it, and build it with the right parts! Check my sig...

You are going to put more money then that into the swap, unless that includes everything down to tuning...

http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm...y=Transmission
Speed Inc outsources their transmission building, so the people that build up these LS1 transmissions(4l60E) can build LT1 transmissions(4L60E). the only difference is the bellhousing machined on the case. call them and find out who they use.

I promise you this tranny came in the car, It has the 4 pin connector on the driver's side, the t/v cable is stock, it could just be a very early 94.
