?'s about rear end setups

I'm looking into buying an LT1 F-Body that has a fairly powerful enging setup, but the rear end is still stock. What needs to be done in order for the rear end to be strong enough to handle more power and launches, etc.? I don't know anything about this at all. Please tell me about how much I can expect to spend on something like this too. Thanks!

Jeremy

if its an auto then a rear end girdle but if you are getting a manual then an 8.8 ford rear (i like most and am getting) or the GM 12 bolt if ur making real power and plan on running sticky tires (tires that you can put the pedal down in 1st)

Oh, sorry... it is a manual.

How much does something like that cost? Is is something you can do yourself or does a shop have to do it?
