Rossler 210, PG, or a Liberty 5-speed????
Rossler 210, PG, or a Liberty 5-speed????
I am dead stuck on what trans to run this season. I am looking at the Rossler 210 or the Rossler Power Glide. The car is going to be heavy ~3300-3400#'s. I would like to still be able to drive it on the street every now and then for fun. I am even considering a Liberty 5-speed sense I found one with 2 sets of shifter, bellhousing, and clutch assembly for $5800.. What do you guys think?

401" Dart block, with GM 18* heads. PT101mm and a 950cfm blow through carb. Hoping to make ~1500+fwhp. This will be a stock style suspension car on a 29.5x10.5W

This is obviously a high-budget project. But I still assume that if you could get decent results for a grand less, you'd go for it? You may lose couple of tenths with a 2-speed v. a 3-speed auto. But it will run a thousand or more less than a comparable 3-speed. So, I'd go for a PG. Maybe with a 1.80 first gear to compensate for the weight. Did you talk to Carl Rossler about it?

I have not called Rossler yet just do to the fact that I am still about a month away from pulling the trigger on the trans. I was kinda leaning torwards teh Glide due to the fact that it's ~$1000 cheaper. I am awating the quote from Neal Chance for the converter which will play a role in it also. If the convert is more than I'm hoping, I will deffinatly be leaning torwards the glide. I am looking into one of their bolt together 10" converters. Thanks for your help, I appriciate it very much. BTW the budget started off about $10-15k less than where it's going to end up. I swear every time I set a budget I just keep getting more and more Idea's as I go. I haven't even figured in the cost of the 25.5 cage that's going to be needed now. This project started off with the goal of running down in the 8.60 range which would still only nessecitate a 10pt. I am correct in sayin that 8.49 in the cut off for the 10pt and is now sfi chassis time? I would like to see the car make it down into the 7's and I don't see why it wouldn't.

The Chance bolt up converter is the best out there. And, of course, the most expensive
Last I priced one it was in the $1,700 range. Yes, you are going to need a "Funny Car" type cage to run faster than 8.50 and you will need to have it certified.
Sounds like an awesome project!

Once again, thanks a ton for the help.. $1700 is WAY less than I was expecting, hopefully they are still that price. I was thinking in the $2500 range. I will be posting pictures in the FI forum as the car starts to come together. Hopefully the car will be done be mid June.
