Question remove dust cover??? (3.8/4l60e)

I have a 99 Camaro with the 3.8 auto. I am trying to remove the tranny but cannot get to the torque convertor bolts. I removed all the bellhousing bolts and the tranny is sitting about an inch away from the motor. However, I can't figure out how to remove the dustcover without cutting. There are 2 studs on the bottom that are holding it on but I can't slip the cover over them because it is stuck behind the flywheel. I noticed that the studs are attached (spot welded??) to brackets that bolt along side of the motor on each side. Do these brackets need to come off? If so, what is involved? It looks like they run down the whole side of the motor.

Well i really have no idea what you are talking about with the welded brakets. But the dust cover should be removed before anything else when removing a tranny. Sounds like it is stuck becase the tranny is away from the engine 1 in. try pushing the tranny back into position and then the dustcover should come off.
