Reluctor ring
Reluctor ring
I did a search and didn't find an answer, I'm installing a 3 series carrier in a 2series differential will the reluctor ring off the 2 series carrier work on the 3 series carrier?
Re: Reluctor ring
Your question is a bit confusing. You may be confusing the "carrier" with the axle housing. They are not the same.
The "housing" it the external containment - the axle tubes and the center section. The "carrier" is the part that sits in the bearings of the center section, connects the two splined axle ends, and contains the limited slip components. The ring gear bolts to the carrier.
You can't put a 3-series carrier in a 2-series differential, because the differential is the carrier.

Re: Reluctor ring
GM has 2 part #s for carrier reluctor rings.
# 26014607 for 2series reluctor ring-used on carriers for 2.73 & 3.08 gearsets
# 26029185 for 3series reluctor ring-used on carriers for 3.23 & 3.42 gearsets
they are different because the sensor location in the axle housing is the same for both applications but the position of the ring changes by approximately/roughly 1/4" because of the difference in ring gear mounting flange to pinion centerline.

Re: Reluctor ring
You're putting a 3series carrier & gearset in the/a rearend that HAD a 2series carrier & gearset ?
If so you would need the 26029185,being that either part hasn't been used on a new vehicle in 8 years, you would be lucky to find a dealer that has one in stock.
Sending you a PM.
