rebuilding rear end

well guys, my rear end has been making a whining noise, and I want to get it fixed before the track opens up this spring.
I have never worked on a rear before, so how hard is it?

What do I need in order to get this done?
Crush seals, gears, what else?

I am thinking of either 3.73 or 3.90 gears, since the car is daily driven, I am leaning more towards the 3.73s

Are you planning on doing the install? You will need a install kit, fluid, and gears. You will need a way to check your pinion depth. There are a few ways and tools to do this with. I use a h-gauge. Back lash you will need to use a dail caliper with a magnetic base. The gears should have marking on where the need to be set. The pinion bearing preload will need to be set. Use the new bearing in the set. set it at 24. Use good fluid and additive. Change the fluid in about 200 miles. When you first put the gears in go thur heat cycles. Do not get on it. Drive it for about 10 miles. Then let the car sit and cool down. do that about 2-3 more times. If you need any parts or help let me know.

I'm also looking at rebuilding my rear end...or looking for a brand new one. I'm looking for a Posi differential with 3.43 gears. I have seen a lot of Eaton differentials on the market. Is there a certain one that I need to get for my v6 with non posi and 3.23 gears? Im seeing a lot of 10 bolt items, and if im correct, i believe i have a 7" rear end.

I'd like to know what exactly what i need to pull this conversion off.

Im not trying to go huge. I would actually be happy with a direct bolt in replacement from a Z28 with 3.43 gears in good condition. Any advice/recommendations?
