Rearend shifting and making noise!?

I've have noticed in the past couple of day if i'm going really really slow, like pulling out of a parking space, that my rear end kinda "shifts" like to the left or right! and sometimes makes a clunk noise!

I got under the car today and check the LCA's and panhard rod and shock and all the bolts were tight!! I dunno what it is, it only does it at low speeds though.

I also got a friend to drive it, and pull it out of a parking space (while turning) and you can actually see the rear wheel move. Any clue what this is guys? Please let me know! Could it be the LSD?

get under the car while the car's set on the floor.. you can fit and get a eye on the panhard bar. then have a friend shake the car side to side.. you'll see play in either end.. YOu might have some worn rubber bushing's..

I would open up the rear to make sure that one of the c-clips isn't popping out. That's the only way a wheel could move assuming everything is correct in your suspension. If you haven't checked already go look out the panhard rod mount on the frame to make sure the welds haven't cracked.

It's still doing it! Could the carrier bearings be going bad? I'm just going to take it to the GM dealership and let them deal with it...they are the ones that changed the fluid last!

your differential might be wearing prematurely, doubke check your rear tire diameters and make sure they are within 3/16 of an inch max or eachother. if they are too different sizes then thats just gonna wear out your posi. drop the cover and change it with fresh mineral 80w-90 oil and a bottle of friction modifier.

Re: Rearend shifting and making noise!?

I just put Zr-1's on there 275/40/17's with brand new tires...i don't think that is it! I took it to the GM place today and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it! Could it be my LCA relocation brackets making the noise? They are welded on?! i dunno
