rearend issues

Well I paid a shop to freshen up my 3:23. Well they stuck repair bearings in the thing. Supposedly set it up and shimed it. Before putting the 3rd member back on the car I checked and the setup as far as ring and pinion play is right @ 6 thousandths. That's what its supposed to be according to everything I can find. The gears were fine so they didn't get replaced, axles were fine, so it was just the bearings and seals that got replaced. After adding the limited slip additive and gear lube I took the car for quick drive to let things settle, went back under and retorqued everything. Took the car out again and its quieter at low speeds and over bumps. But at 60 and up, when I let off the gas I have a hell of a growl. I shoulda just taken the time and went through the rearend myself. Thank god for warranties. So other than possibly too much torque on the crush sleave, what else might the problem be?
After agreeing to let the shop use the repair bearings I started to research repair bearings. Man I wished I would've said no. Apparently they can be a real hassle. But my axles went in withought a lot of problems, and the c-clips went in without a huge fight, so the bearings are apparently in all the way at least. Any body else ever have repair bearings installed and had issues? Any suggestions as far as potential problems here? Thanx in advance for the help
