Rear Really That Easy to Take Out?

Well, I am finding I cannot work under the car to get at my pinion easily so I wanted to know the practicality of taking out my rear. I need to do a whole gear change is the reason I need to get at my rear.

Now I have my axles out, driveshaft, torque arm. I was wondering if it really is just as easy as unbolting the shocks, sway bar, trailing arms and getting the brake calipers out of the way?

If it is this easy, I am going to do it. But if I do, any big things to do/not to do?

Thanks all.
Ben

Yes, it is really that easy. The brake lines have to be unbolted. The only difficulty will be rusty bolts. You sound like you are well on your way to having it out.

you shouldn't have to unbolt the brake lines, you can just bpull the brakes off.

Make sure you support them though. Just dropping the shocks will gibve you some more room if you don't want to pull the whole thing. It is very striaght forward though.

good luck.

edit* I guess maybe jim just meant you have to unbolt the hangers for the brakelines. YOu don't actually have to unbolt the brake lines though which would require bleeding ect.

Right to some extent, there is a bolt that holds the break lines to the top of the center section and there are clips that hold the lines to the axles. They need to be removed before you try to move the rear end out.
