Rear Gearing

I am trying to determine the rear gear ratio of my car. It has a manual transmission so I put it in neutral, jacked up the drive wheel and attempted to count driveshaft turns to one wheel revolution. The driveshaft turned 1.5ish times to one wheel turn which does not make sense to me. Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. (I jacked up the passenger side wheel).

Thank you.

If your talking about a camaro, the M6's had 3.42 gears. ...
Any other car you can get a rough estimate from what your doing. Try it again except put a mark on the wheel on the inside, at say 6 oclock then turn the driveshaft by hand and count how many times the pinion turns to one wheel revolution. Might wanna mark the pinion to make sure also.

Thank you for your reply, I was turning the wheel and not the driveshaft so I will try that to see if it works. It is for my Lemans.
