rear end questions

ok i was told theres a diff between the 96 camaro rs rearend and a 96 camaro ss. well is this true and if it is whats the diff and can i still use the rs rearend with a lt1 motor swap or would it just be better to buy a new/used rearend. and i know that if i swap them out i would have to get one with tcs because my 96 already has tcs

Re: rear end questions

Might be a difference in the gear ratio between your two rear ends. Just turn the yoke and count exactly how many times it takes to make the axle go around once and you'll have the ratios..

Re: rear end questions

not enough info given;autos or manuals !
96SS:auto could be 2.73 or 3.23,manual would be 3.42,AND those might not apply if a different gear was put in by SLP. An 96SS would have posi. An 96SS could be either 3 channel ABS or 4 channel ABS & TC.

96RS;could be 3.08 or 3.42,could be posi or non-posi,would not have ABS & TC as catalogue shows ABS/TC not available in 96 as an option.
