rear end questions

I'm looking to either build up the sotck rear end or buy a new one and i was wondering whats the better way to go? The only thing thats holding me back from fast times is traction but i'm afriad with the stock rear end that slick will rip it to shreds. So anyone with experience and suggestions please leave some comments

Re: rear end questions

If you are going to run slicks/DRs and plan to race regularly, a built up 12 bolt or 9 inch is the only way to go. Dont even bother wasting your money to modify your factory rearend.

Re: rear end questions

I second that one. Pass on building the 10 bolt. Even a set of drag radials and a good hook up could trash the 10 bolt.

Re: rear end questions

well thats probably the way i will have to go. my car currently is driven daily with at least a once a month trip between dallas and houston and raced at the local bracket raicng events twice a week so it takes a lot of abuse. It's currently running about 8.5's with like 2.19 60 foot times and its spinning bad all the way down. Do i tihnk its time to get some slicks. I know the rear end stock sucks so what do you guys think would be the best way to go? The 12 bolt or the 9in?

Re: rear end questions

Unless your towing that thing to the track, you would probably be best with a 12 bolt. Strange or Moser are the majority here. There close in price also. You would probably be better off with 31 spline axles vs the 33's. Save some weight there. I have the 33's but now kinda wish I went 31's. Whatever you go with, see if you can have them build it with a solid pinion spacer instead of a crush sleeve. That will keep your setup in check a lot better then a crush sleeve.
