rear end noise... cured.

i had a noise coming from the passenger rear of the car which sounded kinda like a flat-spot in the tire, but the tires are new and had been re-checked. after searching a few posts here and on LS1.com, i figured that a bad wheel bearing was most likely the problem. when i got around to yanking the axle, it was pitted all to hell where the wheel bearing rides. oddly, the bearing surfaces looked fine but got replaced along with the axle.

while i am glad that it was something that i could repair, i'm not very happy about having to replace the axle on a 4 year old car with 42,000 miles on it. hopefully the next generation fbody will have a 8.5" ten bolt, 12 bolt or a quality irs. that 7.5" 10 bolt has no business sitting behind an LS1.

Don't feel bad, I ate up an 8.5" 10-bolt the same way, and it was only 2-3 years old. That thumping noise was awesome though, it sounded like I had square tires!

quiet is nice... i like not having to turn my stereo up to deafening levels to drown out the noise.
