Rear end noise

I have a tech question for you guys. I just bought a 93 Z28. The rear gears have been replaced with 3.73's and the car has 100,000 miles on it.
The rear seems to make a tapping sound when coming to a stop, or taking off with light throttle. If I give it more gas the sound stops. It is a repetitive tapping sound that increases with speed, but I can only hear it up to about 25 mph. It is not very loud, and when I roll the window down and try to listen outside while driving, I can't even hear it. I only hear it inside. It only makes the sound when I get everything warmed up. No noise when it is cold. I replaced the rear u-joint because it was a little stiff, but that did not fix it. Maybe a bad pinion bearing?

Thanks,
Rob

I just took the diff apart. All the bearings look fine, no chipped teeth or anything. I guess i'll refill it and add posi additive and see if that helps. I just bought the car, and it has 3.73's. Maybe the previous owner did not use any additive when the gears were done.
