rear end noise
I have done a search and have really only come up with one thing. i havent had a chance to look but will in the am. I have a weird noise comming from the rear left tire? Hard to tell when driving, but i do know it is when i am going slow and making turns like in a parkinglot. It sounds as thought something is grinding or rubbing. any suggestions before i go to check it out? seems that things go bad at once, I have just gotten done replacing the ujoints in my tahoe, but after 140,000 mi it should be done. i took them apart and the bearings were dust. hope the next set lasts 140k. any suggestions to look for would be appreciated.
just wanted to add that the car only makes this noise when turning slow, it goes away after i straighten it out.
thanks

Re: rear end noise
Brakes are a definite possibility. What happens with our rearends is that as the miles get a little higher, the cones in our limited-slip rear will become slightly worn down. Due to this the axle shafts are allowed some extra end play that they wouldn't have had when new. This end play is what then causes the brakes to make noise when making a descent cut of the wheel (due to the extra side to side movement).
