rear end gears

im upgrading my gears from a 2.73 to a 3.73 and im wondering if i need a 2 spline or 3 spline as i am new to the f-body world thx for info

You need to get 3.73 gearset for a 2 series carrier.

The ring gear on the 2 sereis carrier is a bit thicker than the ring gear for a 3 sereies.

thanx for the info guys. after posting i realized that i put spline instead or carrier. i was too lazy to go back and fix it. but, i was sure that you'd know what i was talking about!

BTW - You CAN get an adapter plate to put 3 series gears on a 2 series carrier, but it would be better to just get a new 3-series carrier, since the gear will whine if the spacer isn't ground perfectly flat. I had one before I killed my last rear (on number 3 now, and it WILL be the last 10 bolt in my car), and it whined like a howler monkey with his privates in a vise!
