rear end clicking noises help!!
i have a 93 camaro z28 that i recently bought. it has 112000 miles on it and i have a weird problem. i hear a clicking noise at the rear end while i am in drive and only when i step on the gas. the faster i go, the faster the click, its like in sync with the wheels turning. i took it to the dealers but they wouldnt even help me cuz "we only deal with cars six years old and newer." anyway. i got my brakes checked and they were fine. i got an alignment and rotated my tires just for kicks. im clueless. any help will be extremely appreciated.
Re: rear end clicking noises help!!
sounds like ur rear might be going out
some things to look at tho
loose suspension parts
transmission mount
broken suspension parts
U joints
it sounds like a rear end problem, coud also be U-joints

Re: rear end clicking noises help!!
hey thanks for the info. well, also i remembered that the mechanic i took it to said the u joint was fine and he talked to someone who had the same problem. the mechanic told me that the guy he talked to took it to the dealer and they added some kind of synthetic oil to it??? any ideas what that was about? also is this a problem that can cause big problems or is this something that is only noise, worst case scenario? (boy i wish it were only noise
but i think i know what the answer to that is) lastly, how much is this affecting my performance if any?. thanks, this site rocks.

Re: rear end clicking noises help!!
As for the synthetic oil for the other guy, it was probley the GM Limited Slip Additive. Which would help if you rear was making a chattering sound but not a clicking sound.
The only way your gonna know if this sound is gonna cause problems down the road is to take the cover off and inspect everything and go from there.
Its probley not affecting performance at all, but if whatever it is making the noise breaks, its gonna effect most of the internals in the rear.
Get it checked out and see whats inside.
