If it was a 6 speed car, it could have had one too many hard launches/clutch dumps under its belt. If it was an auto, I'd say it was probably a combination of bad luck and a poorly assembled rearend.

So did you ask the dealer if the price was negotiable?

it was a manual tranny

the tranny was incredibly difficult to get into gear after the rear exploded.

dealer STILL wasn't negotiable however... they are asking 14,480 and i want them to do that price out the door and they were refusing.

being a smart-*** i asked if they'd do 8 out the door while we were on the side of the road and they said no

I don't race mine either. The turbos are on there for looks.

If the diffy actually exploded or broke, then it sounds like something let loose, got caught in the gears and took many innocent parts with it. I'd put money that the car had been run hard by a previous owner.

I remember blowing up a Daytona IROC several years ago on a test drive. We took it on a back road to Vericom it (think G-tech, only more accurate) and dropped the tranny. I passed on that one.

take some advice. If it blew up and they aren't willing to negotiate, go somewhere else. That car probably isn't something you want anyway. I wouldn't waste any time with it.

Walk. If they're serious about selling they'll call you w/another offer in a week or so. I'd lower my offer due to the rear. I got a dealer down $1500 by walking. Too bad for them they played that game because I found my current ride for less w/ half the miles. Also, the closer to the end of the month the more they'll be willing to sell so they can get their numbers.

For you people that claim no racing. Sorry, but wheather you get on it w/no one beside you or on a track w/ another car running in the next lane, or in town when getting on the hiway, it still creates the same wear. Personally, when someone says a car like ours has never been raced, I won't take much else they say as the truth.
