rear diff upgrade

anybody tackle this theirself? i have done quite a bit of research, and have a few years of mechanical experience and i'd hate to pay alot of money for something that i could accomplish myself. i know all the steps to the installation, its just the shimming and the torque of the pinion that has all my friends telling me that i should let a shop do it. anybody got any suggestions or feedback? btw its just a 2.73 to a 3.42 ring gear swap, sticking with the 2 series carrier

Evil, if you don't mind making a trip to a press a couple of times
have a way to check pinion depth
know what the proper pattern should be and how to obtain it
have an in/lb torque wrench to check/set pinion preload-assuming you don't have a feel for it as its your first one
You can make it happen.
