rear axle

i need to change the fluid, and it says to use some gm lubricant, can i just use this addative from autozone and use that instead?

I wouldn't, I would use the GM additive.

Its an additive so the limited slip works properly. I would only use the real GM stuff.

The GM additive seems to work best. Others don't work at all (but some do). IMO, just use the GM stuff, so you don't have to worry about it.
