rattling from tranny.
rattling from tranny.
I got a lt1 formula and it has begun to make a noise from the tranny. its comming from the bell housing. the clutch was replaced not too long ago.
Well when I lifted the rear end up into the air and started the car. Then i put in 1st and let out the clutch. thats when you clould here the rattling. it doesnt do it in neutral. but the faster the drivetrain spins, the worse the rattle is. what could this be?
its either a 96 or 97. not sure. its my buddy's

Re: rattling from tranny.
Mines does it in neutral sounds like somethings loose in mine. do you have to rev your car to not have it feel like it want's to cut off? I have the same problem and might be rebuilding soon.
Re: rattling from tranny.
Everything inside the bell housing is spinning when the car's in neutral with the engine running (clutch is engaged). Therefore I believe your noise is coming from the transmission.
Re: rattling from tranny.
Mine has rattled since day one. I did the A4 M6 swap last year. The drive train is othrewise smooth as silk running down the road. Many others have reported the same experience, so I am not worrying about it.
Re: rattling from tranny.
I'm pretty sure my car gas had a couple of clutches thus the flywheel has been turned quite a bit of times. what is the thickness of a new flywheel i think all the rattling or chatter is from it being turned too many times, i might need to shim it. I know that my clutch doesn't grap untill almost all the way decompressed.
