Question on TCI 2400-2800 converter

Ok, right now i have a stock restalled converter, it stalls to about 2600 on my car. From what I have read before the restalled stockers dont give the torque miltiplication affect that say a TCI or VIg would have. I am trying to obtain a TCI 2400-2800 stall at this time. Would this stall have the multiplication affect and would it give me potentially better performance and gains?? Input is very appreciated, thanks, Dustin.

Re: Question on TCI 2400-2800 converter

I believe the stock STR is 1.6. I'd estimate the TCI 2800 for example is probably a 2.0 or at least a 1.8.

you'll get a little better torque multiplication, a little higher stall (go with the 2800), a purpose built converter (as opposed to your stocker which, no offense, kind of seems like a band-aid on a broken leg solution) and somewhere around 22 pounds worth of weight reduction out of a new converter.

IMO, you can't go wrong with a 2800.

I read that it is the TCI Street Fighter, I looked it up and it has a 2.35:1 i beleive. So u think either way it would be a good upgrade if i could get one cheap?

Re: Question on TCI 2400-2800 converter

I run a TCI 2600 to 2800 breakaway converter.
It works great in a daily driven street car.
With 3.73 gears you will love it.
I have stock LT1 with bolt ons and it works great.
I will be putting a more powerful motor in soon and I may need to go bigger on the stall but I am going to try my 2800 first.
