Question about tranny mounts..

I put a poly mount on my transmission, and ive heard of the vibration problems that people talk about. But it only vibrates at high RPMs. Is that normal, or could it be something else?

Re: Question about tranny mounts..

Well, I had the stock mount on my 2000 SS automatic, and broke it. So I put a poly mount on it, and now it vibrates pretty bad at higher RPMs. It's not really a problem since I don't gun it much anymore anyway, but I was just curious. If I put a regular one back on, do you guys think it would stop?

Re: Question about tranny mounts..

If the only change was the transmission mount, then putting a rubber mount back on the car should get rid of the vibrations, or at least soak them up.

However, it is possible that there was a vibration problem (maybe driveshaft out of balance or something?) there before that the rubber mount was masking, and you're just now feeling it with the poly mount.

I recently snapped my stock mount (1 year old) launching at the drag strip, so I replaced it with a poly one I had on the shelf. I'm getting lots more vibration too.

Re: Question about tranny mounts..

Thanks. I'll probably put a rubber one back on soon. There's no need for a stronger poly mount really, since I haven't done anything to my car except remove my exhaust. Thanks again.

Get the LS1/1LE mount, its a good compromise.
