Question about rear end "clunking"...

I have a newer rear with an Auburn Pro Center Posi. This is a posi that is one step above the bse Auburn posi's that sometimes came in fbodies, and one step below the full race posi. I believe it is clutch based...

That damn think clinks and clunks like an old ladies knees. Is this detrimental or is it just going to be an irritation? Might it be a sign of a low fluid level? Is it possible that more fluid packed in there might dampen the clunking? I was told it is probably just the clutches kicking in and out.

It doesn't happen under hard acceleration or deceleration, only when i'm coasting lightly, or on the gas or break lightly that it does it, more so in the city street turns than on the straight aways...

I'm not worried about a "solution", I just don't won't to let it go on if it is something that coule possibly be ruining the rear...

Thanks in advance...

Does it have the limited slip additive in the rear? If your not sure, you should probably change the fluid and add one bottle of GM limited slip additive and see if that helps

yep, it has the additive already in there.

I'm going to try just adding some more fluid and see if that helps any...
