Quell my frears about stall...installs

This guy wants to buy my Vig 3k stall. I've had it over a year in my garage collecting dust. I'm afraid if I do it the tranny will go out. I like the way my car drives as is. I drove my bros stalled car and wasn't too fond of it, but didn't hate it. What about doing a stall, kills guys trannys? My bro is very confident about installing one because he's done 2 installs now. The first messed up his tranny. I've read the instructions many times so that's not a problem. Is it the tranny filter needs to be changed out, is there air in the lines of the tranny that stop if from getting the fluid it needs?

Please quell my fears, but also give me your horror stories and what you should've done instead.

What was so bad about my stall?!

I keep saying, it may work out well. But, there's the possibility of your tranny not liking it and taking a crap. A big steamy crap. Do you like crap? Is it worth the risk? You can get good times without a stall. There are plenty of other mods to do.

On the other hand, I think the stall is my favorite mod ever. And if your tranny isn't temperamental then you'll have a mighty quick car... plus you already have the stall.

The only possible reason for a high stall converter "killing" a tranny would be through the extra heat generated by the higher stall speed. A good quality aux trans cooler is a must. Do the converter, you've got a large investment sitting there collecting dust....just don't forget the cooling issue.

I'd definately get a tranny cooler. Is that really the main reason trannys go out after a stall is because they didn't do a cooler?

I've honestly never heard of a rash of trans failures after a high-stall converter install, but high-stall converters do generate more heat, and it seems reasonable that higher heat in an already marginal transmission could push it past the breaking point. The #1 enemy of any auto trans is heat. You gotta keep 'em cool.
