Proper way to build a jig to weld an 8.8

I have all the parts for the rear end conversion to an 8.8 Now I just need to build a jig and get it lined up true and straight and weld it up. I have heard the a metal rod going through both axle tubes and the housing is a good way to line it up. Any suggestions, this whole process is completely new to me... By the way, anybody know of any gear install guides I can look over? I have all the tools necessary and know people that can help. I just want to get an idea myself.
