pro 5.0 review

well, i installed my used pro 5.0 shifter that i purchased from another board member. the install was very easy. it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. the shifts are much shorter now, and i have zero trouble finding third on hard upshifts. however, i am a little dissappointed at the notchiness of the shifter. i haven't found the shifting to be crisp at all like other people have suggested. anyways a good buy if you can pick one up used.

Congrats. I love my Pro 5.0. I do, however, agree with you on the notchiness issue. I'm getting used to it though. I haven't had a chance to totally test mine out yet because I'm giving the tranny a couple hundred easy miles and still getting used to the new clutch setup. I can't wait though

What do you mean about "notchiness" If you mean how it kinda clicks into gear, I think that is the shifter kitting the stoper screws. You mite have to adjust some of those bolts, and for GODS sakes, red loctite all those bolts. I was on the highway doing about 80 and my shifter fell apart cus all the bolts backed themselvs out. It was quite the site, haha. Also, people have used RTV to seal the shifter to trans, my buddy put some of that black gasket maker and he got ALOT less vibration. Just a thought if it starts to annoy you.

I learned about the loctite myself. The bolts that hold the stick to the rest of the shfter mechanism loosened on my Hurst. As I was speed shifting I punched the radio when I shifted to third. I was lucky that I was only about a mile from home when that happened. It wouldn't be too fun trying to drive all the way home from the strip in 2nd. It's 50 miles away.

when i say it is notchy, i mean that the shifts are not crisp. they do not click into gear. the notchiness displayed means that the shifts are not exactly smooth and precise. the shifter doesn't exude confidence. however, the 2-3 shift is 10000000000000x's better, and i am sure the shifter is much stronger than stock. furthermore the screws seem like a great way to protect the shift forks from being damaged. i like the shifter. it is is simply not as precise as i'd expected.
